Meeting Minutes:

Items:


• Ken Johnson - first reported that his company (? Title company) has completed a full title search and report on the Las Vegas High School. They have found no reversionary clause that the school reverts back to the Rail Road. He also reported that their are no restriction on the title.He said the title of the property clearly is deeded in the name of the Clark County School District. This is very curious. Especially when we were informed that indeed there is some type of restriction on the buildings.... He did find that the 5th St. school does indeed have a reversionary provision in the title and does revert back to the Rail Road. Ken will further his investigation of the title search.
  
  
• Laura Dillon - reported that she talked to Judy Roberts a teacher with the new Las Vegas High School. She said that Mike Edwards the previous principal at the original LVHS was the one responsible for having the squares sand blasted. There was such an uproar that he then tried to recreate the steps to no avail. That is the reason for the terrible condition they are in. Judy said that there is a great deal of interest with the new school and the restoration of the original steps. She said there are several teachers at the new school that came from the old school and would be interested in our restoration projects.
  
  
• Patty Haack - reported that she contacted the State Museum at Lorenze Park. The museum director said that they do not have the space to dedicate a room for memorabilia of the original school. He did indicate that they have several historical items that have been given to them that they have in their storerooms. They did say that they could store additional memorabilia for us but they just do not have the space for a museum of our school. They did say they would offer their expertise on exhibiting our items and will help us with the care of the items we have. It was suggested that maybe Bill Boyd could provide us space.???
  
  
• Don Ashworth - was not at the meeting to give his report
  
  
• Richard Brian - has indicated that he would like to be involved in our project.
  
  
• Laura - passed out information regarding the All Class Reunion on June 9th.
  
  
• Patty - is on the committee and she indicated that she would make a contact to the chairman that we be given a few minutes on the agenda to make a pitch for our project. Before we do this we all decided we need to be focused on where we are going with this project.!!! It was also suggested at we put together an information booth about our project. photo's of the condition of the steps, sign up sheet, business cards available at the table. I suggested that since we knew Merl and Marjie that with their artistic abilities they could make some type of display boards. (this is what happens when you are not in attendance you get volunteered.!!!) Patty works on this all class reunion party and will pass on the message that we would like to be involved. We volunteered Marjie to pull up her data base and print labels of the class of 70 and give them to Patty for mailing of the announcements to this event. Patty will call Gary Vause and Don Ashworth regarding their reports.

We set the next meeting for Wednesday May 16th at 6pm. This meeting will be either at the school or Ken offered his office. I am trying to get a confirmation from the school regarding an evening meeting. Watch for the place with in the next couple of days.

Assignments for the next meeting:

• Mark - will call Boyd Group - Bill Boyd he will be getting his involvement and support to this restoration project
  
  
• George Apfel - He said no problems with PSA announcements etc. on the radio but first we need to define our direction and mission
  
  
• Patty - she will call Bill Boyd reunion committee regarding the approval of a display table, a few minutes to make an announcement regarding the project. she will call Gary Vause and Don Ashworth for their reports.
  
  
• Laura - will call Bonnie for her report
  
  
• Bill - Scan pictures of the squares
  
  
• Sarah - contact Marjie and Merl regarding a display board at the June 9th.
  
  
  

All Class reunion party:

• Sarah - will call Woody for business cards of our web site.
  
  
• Sarah - will confirm the meeting location. Date will be Wednesday, May 16th. 6pm.
